About the Department
In recent years, the emphasis on logistics has increased under the effect of globalization. The fact that companies focus on reducing the costs and enabling the customer satisfaction in the new economic structure results in the increased emphasis on logistics. Parallel to this increased importance on logistics, there appears an increase in the need for well-trained labour force. In the light of this information, the purpose of this program is to train well-versed graduates who can prove to be distinct from and superior to their counterparts in meeting this need of the logistic sector of Turkey, situated as a logistic base and bridge between Asia and Europe. The Program of Logistics in İstanbul Nisantasi University is totally designed to meet the need of the logistic sector for the basic staff. We have taken the support and views of the representatives of the sector, also holding to the regulations and legislations in preparing the syllabus. Accordingly, our focus has been on practical training to prepare the way for the employability of our graduates in good conditions in the sector.
Fields of Employment after Graduation
The Program of Logistics has a wide range of job facilities for its graduates, who can work in the public institutions and private businesses in field of logistics. In this sense, they are entitled to work in the transport, distribution, insurance, customs services, purchase, customer services, marketing, production planning, material management, inventory management, storing and foreign trade departments of the businesses. In addition, our graduates can also work in such fields as logistic information system, return procedures, labelling, packaging, separation-combination, route planning and vehicle optimization and follow-up at logistic companies.
About the Courses
In the first semester, the students of the Program of Logistics are taught courses on general economy, business, general accounting and commercial mathematics. In the remaining three semesters of the program, logistic processes are treated as a whole; international transport, sectoral project practices, foreign trade procedures, clearance, vocational correspondence techniques, storing management and logistic information systems are the main courses taught. In this context, the latest innovations and developments in national and international fields are closely followed and the basic information acquired by the students is supported in examples. Besides the theoretical courses in the field, practical training is emphasized and projects and internships are encouraged.
