In the faculty, our students graduate after completing a 5-year education covering basic and clinical dentistry information. The aim of the faculty is to train dentists who have the knowledge and skills to carry out all the necessary activities at the highest level in the protection and treatment of oral and dental health of the society, adhering to high-quality ethical rules. This program aims to equip its graduates with technical skills and competencies by covering all practical and theoretical subjects in the field of dentistry. Our graduates have the necessary equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and developmental disorders of teeth and surrounding tissues. The courses in the curriculum are given in semesters as theoretical, practical, and clinical practice. The language of instruction is Turkish. While the courses in the first and second years of the program provide students with information about basic medicine and dentistry fields, the courses in the third, fourth, and fifth years are aimed at providing knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the dentistry profession, and the fourth and fifth grades are clinical internship years. The applied internship system has been developed in a multidisciplinary way. With this system, our graduates have the chance to graduate with the necessary experience for dentistry by taking an active role from the first stage to the last stage of the treatment of our patients.
Dentists who work to protect the health of the society, achieve health goals, and increase the quality of life are an integral part of the health system. They diagnose and treat oral and dental health problems. Dentists have employment opportunities in state and university hospitals, private hospitals, dental prosthesis laboratories, private clinics, oral and dental health centers, and dental hospitals. They can also work by opening their own practices. Dentists who want to become academics can continue their postgraduate education and work in universities.
The Dentistry Undergraduate Program offers undergraduate education and training that aims to train students to become well-equipped dentists with their theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional attitudes with its broad and comprehensive curriculum. In addition to basic medical education, the Dentistry program covers topics related to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth and surrounding tissues. In dentistry education, it is prioritized to train individuals who adhere to ethical rules, follow current scientific developments, and adopt serving society as a duty.
In the first two years of professional education, students take basic medicine and dentistry courses as well as pre-clinical vocational courses that will improve their professional skills. In order for students to graduate by doing more practice, clinical studies, which were previously 2 years, have been increased to 3 years. Students who start clinic from the 3rd grade have gained more clinical practice opportunities in dentistry, where practical experience is very important, than before.
