About the Department

The Program of Construction Technology launched its academic training in 2015-16 academic year. It is a two-year program with fur semesters, each spanning 14 weeks. In this two-year period, the training is based on theoretical courses, laboratory practices and industry. The program is designed to train well-equipped construction technicians required by the construction sector, equipped with the skills of material, project, exploration, bill of quantities and practice from the projecting stage of constructions to the time of delivery, and mastering the computer programs and foreign language.

Fields of Employment after Graduation

The graduates of the Program of Construction Technology are entitled as ‘construction technician’. They can work as construction technicians in the construction sector, which is the most important one in our country, in the public sector (Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs and the institutions affiliated to these ministries), and in the private sector. Some of the numerous working fields of the graduates of the program are given below: Construction of transportation buildings such as highway, railway and bridges, Infrastructure constructions like drinking water, sewer system and refining plant, and Coastal harbour constructions like harbour, breakwater and wharf. The graduates are also employed as quality control personnel at; building material laboratories and concrete-producing institutions, all building manufacturing, steel construction production and assembly, soil improvement, building control, and statics, architecture, geotechnical project offices.

About the Courses

The Program of Construction Technology offers theoretical and practical courses with consideration paid to the qualities required by the construction sector. Some of these courses are Construction Technology, Geotechnique, Construction Materials, Building Statics, Technical Drawing, Building Technology, Mathematics, Work Health and Safety, Resistance, Concrete Technology, Turkish Language, Foreign Language and History of Ataturk’s Principles and Reforms.
