About the Department

Dietitians, who are nutrition and dietetics experts, determine social and individual nutritional status; evaluation of nutrition-related problems and finding, suggesting and applying solutions; determining and directing food and nutrition plans and policies; nutrient analyzes are involved in examining the nutritional needs of different social groups. Due to the increase in irregular and inadequate nutrition and the changes in the social and economic structure of the society, the need for nutrition and dietetics is also increasing. The need for qualified manpower to take part in the protection and development of health, prevention and treatment of diseases, gaining social and individual nutrition awareness by learning and adopting the principles of balanced, adequate and healthy nutrition, and the creation, implementation and monitoring of nutrition plans is increasing rapidly. In this direction, it is of great importance to train nutrition and dietetics specialists in order to meet the social needs and employment demand.

Fields of Employment after Graduation

Nutrition and dietetics is a department that has been on the rise in recent years and has a very important place in the health sector and human life. Our students who graduate from this department, which covers a 4-year undergraduate education, gain the title of Dietician and can take part in every step of preventive, treatment and rehabilitative health services. Research and development, production, management and organization, creation and implementation of nutrition plans and programs in public or private hospitals, universities, relevant departments of public health services, sports health centers, nurseries, factories, hotels, food and pharmaceutical industry, private nutrition centers can work in areas such as conducting with the support of visual and written media.

About the Courses

With the Nutrition and Dietetics Undergraduate Program curriculum, it is aimed to train students who can adopt teamwork with a multi-disciplinary approach, have high communication power, and can constantly renew themselves by following current research, and to graduate as a dietitian equipped with theoretical knowledge, practical skills and professional attitudes. It offers a four-year education and training that is compatible with the programs applied both in foreign countries and abroad. In addition to conveying the basic information about the discipline of Nutrition and Dietetics, a curriculum has been prepared for gaining the ability to analyze problems and new developments in practice. Basic courses such as anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical biology and genetics, microbiology and nutrition principles, nutrition safety, food chemistry and analysis, community health and nutrition, maternal and child nutrition, medical nutrition in diseases, nutritional control and legislation in the Nutrition and Dietetics undergraduate program Professional courses such as specialization will be given theoretically and practically. In addition, it is aimed to provide an interdisciplinary education with different elective courses offered in and out of the field during the undergraduate education.
